Summer Camp 2017 – YouTube Stars – August

This event has been cancelled 🙁

Does your child want to be the next YouTube super star? Let us show them the ropes! Kids will learn the basics of video planning, recording, and editing, by creating content like their favorite YouTube Stars. We will create:

  • Game walkthroughs/tutorials – We will have Minecraft on our computers; if your child would like to do another game that works on Windows computers (max ESRB rating of T), let us know, and we’ll see if we can get the necessary licensing.
  • Interviews with their classmates
  • Challenge videos

We will attempt to do at least one video of each type, but if your child gets really into one type of video, and needs more time on that, we’ll allow him or her to keep working on that masterpiece!

If your child already attended a session of YouTube Stars this summer, he or she will do the challenge video with the rest of the class on the first day, and then they can create another walkthrough for the rest of the week, or attempt an “advanced” video:

  • Minecraft Music Video
  • Minecraft Roleplay

The videos above will require kids to plan, storyboard, script, record, and edit throughout the entire week.

You can see examples of videos kids have already made on our YouTube channel.

Plus we’ll spend part of the day in our STEAM Lab (also known as the Crafting Room), where kids will do activities to explore topics in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

This camp is for kids who were in grades K through 7 during the 2016-17 school year.

This camp is Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm. Before and after care are available for an additional cost.

Important: Each student needs a USB headset with microphone for this class. We like this onehttp://amzn.to/29e7B72. Please make sure your child’s headset is clearly labeled with his or her name on it, and bring it to and from camp each day. In addition to the headset, we will have a list of additional materials available approximately 2 weeks before camp.
