YouTube Star – Fall 2017

Does your child want to be the next YouTube super star? Let us show them the ropes! Kids will learn about:

  • Staying safe on the Internet
  • Planning interesting videos
  • Recording and editing videos, including adding music and voiceovers
  • Exporting videos for YouTube

You can see examples of videos kids have already made on our YouTube channel. We typically have the kids create a challenge video, walkthrough/tutorial, interview, and unboxing, but we work with the class to determine the best videos to produce with that class.

We typically upload all videos to the Coder Kids Club YouTube Channel, because technically, your kids aren’t old enough for their own YouTube channels! If your child does have a YouTube channel, he or she can bring in a flash drive and grab his or her videos, to upload with you at home.

This class meets 6-7pm on Wednesdays, November 1-December 13 (no class November 22). We recommend this class for kids in grades 3-8. Younger kids are also welcome to join us, but might need a parent to help.

Important: Each student needs a USB headset with microphone for this class. We very highly recommend this onehttp://amzn.to/29e7B72. We know that particular headset works every time with our hardware and software. If you want your child to use a different headset, please make sure it’s USB, and not 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks. If your child isn’t using the recommended headset, you will need to stick around when we record with the headsets (at least once), to get it working properly with our hardware and software. Please make sure your child’s headset is clearly labeled with his or her name on it, and bring it to and from class each week.

Introduction to Animation – Fall 2017 – Carroll County Homeschoolers

Join Coder Kids Club for 3 sessions of animation, on Thursdays, 10am-12pm, November 9, 16, & 30. Kids will learn about:

  • Animation terminology
  • Storyboarding and storytelling
  • Character planning and drawing
  • Traditional animation
  • Stop-motion animation
  • Computer-based animation

Kids will spend much of the time in this class creating stop-motion animations with a group of 1-2 of their classmates. They should plan to bring in small toys to use for their animations after they have planned out their animation with their group. Please take a picture of the toys before you send them in, to help everyone remember which ones belong to your child, and if you want to be extra sure you get everything back, put your child’s initials on every toy.
