Summer Camp 2017 – Animation All Stars

Join Coder Kids Club for a week of animation, gaming, and more.  In Animation All Stars, kids will learn about:

  • Animation terminology
  • Storyboarding and storytelling
  • Character planning and drawing
  • Traditional animation
  • Stop-motion animation
  • Computer-based animation

Even if kids have already taken one of our animation classes before, they will learn something new in this camp, and have an opportunity to take their skills to the next level.

This camp is Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm. Before and after care are available for an additional cost.

Approximately 12 days before camp, you will receive an email with information about materials for some of the activities that we will do for this camp. We try to keep all of the materials we ask you to bring in under $20. If you wish to purchase your materials sooner, you can check the Camp Materials page. We will add the materials lists for specific camps about 2 weeks before each camp.

Summer Camp 2017 – Summer Sampler

Join Coder Kids Club for a week of fun and learning.  In Summer Sampler, kids will do standalone lessons from some of our other camps. They’ll learn a little bit about:

  • Making YouTube Videos
  • Modding in Minecraft
  • Gaming
  • Creating a Stop-Motion Animation
  • Programming a Robot

This camp is Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm. Before care is available for an additional cost. Please note that the dates of this camp assume that AACPS will be out a few days early, so kids will be off for the entire week. If that does not happen, we will contact parents to refund 1/5 of the camp fee for each day that kids end up being in school. We wanted to let everyone register early, so they weren’t scrambling at the last minute!

We will have pizza and drinks for the kids to enjoy during this workshop.

Coder Kids Club is Hiring

We are hiring for the following part-time positions:

  • Instructor – Instructors do classroom setup/breakdown, lead groups through Coder Kids Club course materials, help with creating and revising materials, and supervise the children in their classes. They will also attend special events, to help promote the Coder Kids Club. Right now we are particularly in need of staff who can help at events, on evenings and weekends! Previous experience working with kids is required. Some previous topic-specific experience is also very helpful, but it’s not necessary for that experience to be from a professional setting. In other words, hobbyists are welcome! Multiple positions are available.
  • Assistant – Assistants help instructors manage classes and camps, help with setup/breakdown, and help kids with activities.
  • Intern – We have internships available to AACPS students. Please contact your advisor for more information. If you are not a student in AACPS, please have your advisor contact us, so we can get set up for your school system. You must be able to receive credit for our internship program to participate!
  • Volunteers – Coder Kids Club is in the process of becoming a nonprofit! Technically, this isn’t “hiring,” but we are always looking for volunteers to help with events. If you want to help spread STEAM to kids in the area, we would love some help.

All positions are part-time. Evening and weekend hours will be available throughout the year. Most daytime hours will be available during school breaks, including summer. Pay is commensurate with experience. Interns are not compensated, but do receive credit for school. Volunteers are also not compensated, but will be invited to special events for supporters, and will receive vouchers for classes. A background check is required for all employees and volunteers that are 18 or older.

Please use the form below to apply, and include a plain-text version of your resume.
